Blog Tour: Netflix Tie-In Editions of Shadow and Bone and Six of Crows by Leigh Bardugo

We’re so excited to be a part of the Netflix Tie-in Editions tour for Leigh Bardugo’s Shadow and Bone and Six of Crows! Thank you so much to Terminal Tours for hosting this tour and Fierce Reads for the opportunity to promote the new covers! They are absolutely gorgeous. We’ll focus more on the covers in a little bit, but let’s get some of the important information out of the way.

Title: Shadow and Bone

Author: Leigh Bardugo

Goodreads summary

Surrounded by enemies, the once-great nation of Ravka has been torn in two by the Shadow Fold, a swath of near impenetrable darkness crawling with monsters who feast on human flesh. Now its fate may rest on the shoulders of one lonely refugee.

Alina Starkov has never been good at anything. But when her regiment is attacked on the Fold and her best friend is brutally injured, Alina reveals a dormant power that saves his life—a power that could be the key to setting her war-ravaged country free. Wrenched from everything she knows, Alina is whisked away to the royal court to be trained as a member of the Grisha, the magical elite led by the mysterious Darkling.

Yet nothing in this lavish world is what it seems. With darkness looming and an entire kingdom depending on her untamed power, Alina will have to confront the secrets of the Grisha . . . and the secrets of her heart.

Title: Six of Crows

Author: Leigh Bardugo

Goodreads summary

Ketterdam: a bustling hub of international trade where anything can be had for the right price—and no one knows that better than criminal prodigy Kaz Brekker. Kaz is offered a chance at a deadly heist that could make him rich beyond his wildest dreams. But he can’t pull it off alone. . . .

A convict with a thirst for revenge.
A sharpshooter who can’t walk away from a wager.
A runaway with a privileged past.
A spy known as the Wraith.
A Heartrender using her magic to survive the slums.
A thief with a gift for unlikely escapes.

Six dangerous outcasts. One impossible heist. Kaz’s crew is the only thing that might stand between the world and destruction—if they don’t kill each other first.

Our fun, creative project for this tour was to create journal spreads for both of the books. We combined elements from both of the books into two pretty cool spreads, if we do say so ourselves (Danielle did the drawings; Rachael did the hand lettering). There will be a picture below as well as on our Instagram page. We had so much fun creating these journal spreads and hope you love them as well.

The last order of business is to talk about the Netflix show. We binged through the show in about 4 days. Both of us (Danielle and Rachael) had work and other appointments to attend to that weekend, so we couldn’t watch it as fast as everyone else. What are your thoughts on the show?

We both loved the fact that The Crows were included. Six of Crows is our favorite book out of the Grishaverse (okay, it rivals with Rule of Wolves for Danielle), so naturally, we were going to love the scenes with Kaz, Inej, and Jesper. And of course, there’s Milo (who was the real MVP of the show)! Maybe we just love The Crows too much…

Let us know in the comments what your favorite parts of the show were. Is there anything that you did not like or thought could have been improved? Also, what are your thoughts on the Netflix Tie-in Editions? Personally, we think that they are pretty cool covers.

We’re a sister duo and a best friend from Virginia, USA who absolutely love books! We all met while Danielle and Skyler were in college. Danielle and Skyler are teachers and Rachael is aspiring to be a librarian. As well as having a bookstagram, we co-run a blog together where we review books, post unboxings of other subscription boxes, and offer reading resources for parents and educators.
