Bookish News You May Have Missed: May 23-May 29

Please note that some of the following book-related news may seem familiar as it may have already been shared in our stories on Instagram.

Book Title Reveals:

Susan Dennard’s The Luminaries series: Tor Teen acquired rights to Susan’s next YA fantasy series. The series will be called The Luminaries and the first book will be published in Fall 2022 (we’ll provided an additional update when the first book’s title and cover is revealed!). Here is the series’ description: “In Hemlock Falls, when nightmares rise, only the Luminaries stand between humanity and these monsters bent on devastation. Winnie Wednesday knows the only way to redeem her disgraced family is to pass the Luminary trails, but when she encounters an unknown monster, she realizes she must also protect Hemlock Falls and her heart from a former friend with secrets of his own.” Click here for the first book’s Goodreads link.

This Woven Kingdom by Tahereh Mafi: Tahereh revealed that the first book in her new YA fantasy series will be called This Woven Kingdom. The book will be published on February 1, 2022. Click here for the Goodreads link.


The Kinder Poison by Natalie Mae (June 8th-14th): To prepare for The Cruelest Mercy‘s release (sequel to The Kinder Poison), @bookish_signs and @princessofink are hosting a readalong for The Kinder Poison. The hyperlink includes the reading schedule as well as instructions on how to enter a giveaway for The Cruelest Mercy deluxe box (currently sold out, but was originally offered in Bookish Signs and More’s Etsy shop).

Exclusive Editions:

Empire of the Vampire by Jay Kristoff: Jay revealed Goldsboro Book’s exclusive edition for Empire of the Vampire (the hyperlink includes a preview of the book’s design)! The exclusive edition will be signed by Jay and include a platinum foil dust jacket, purple sprayed edges, and purple foil on metallic boards, featuring the crest and the creed of the Blood Chastain on the naked hardcover. Goldsboro’s exclusive edition of the book will available to the general public on June 10th (the specific time has yet to be determined).

Heartstopper by Alice Oseman: Fairyloot will be offering an exclusive edition of Heartstopper by Alice Oseman (the hyperlink includes a preview of the book’s design)! The exclusive edition will be signed by Alice and include pink foil on the dust jacket, foil on the naked hardcover, pink sprayed edges, and custom endpapers. Cost is £19.99 GBP / $26.99 USD plus shipping; it will be available for purchase in both the UK and US Fairy Trove. Active subscribers will get early access on June 22nd at 1:00 p.m. BST. The general sale will be on June 23rd at 1:00 p.m. BST.

Rise Up from the Embers by Sara Raasch and Kristen Simmons: Bookish Signs and More’s signed and sprayed edition of Rise Up from the Embers (sequel to Set Fire to the Gods) is available for purchase in Bookish Signs’ Etsy shop. A signed and sprayed edition of Set Fire to the Gods will also be available as an add-on purchase. The sprayed edges have yet to be revealed for Rise Up from the Embers, but we do know that they will be a complimentary color to Set Fire to the Gods, which has been revealed to have fluorescent yellow sprayed edges (click here for a preview). We are reps for Bookish Signs and More, but our code will not work for special editions. Instead, you can mention us (alwaysbookishlovers) at checkout.

Court by Tracy Wolff: Tracy announced that there will be four special editions of Court, final book in the Crave series! They will be a vampire edition (available at Target), a witch edition (available at Books-A-Million), a dragon edition (available at Barnes and Noble), and a gargoyle edition (available at participating indie bookstores; ISBN: 9781649371836). Signed and personalized copies of the gargoyle edition are available for purchase at Book People.

Bookish Shop News:

Illumicrate Collections presents The Night Circus: The next book featured in the Illumicrate Collections will be The Night Circus! The box includes an exclusive edition of The Night Circus (the hyperlink includes a preview of the book’s design) as well as 5-6 other items inspired by the book. Illumicrate’s exclusive edition of The Night Circus will be signed by Erin and include a shiny, silver cover, stenciled edges, foil embossing on the naked hardback, and an author letter printed on the front endpapers. Cost is £49 + shipping and VAT, if applicable. The general sale will be on June 27th at 4:00 p.m. BST (active subscribers and people who purchased certain, past books from the Illumicrate Archives or Illumicrate Collections will receive early access).

The Librarian Box’s Kingdom of the Cursed: The Librarian Box will be offering a signed, exclusive edition of Kingdom of the Cursed by Kerri Maniscalco! Although the book will be featured in their October box (two books have been selected for October!), there are multiple options for purchase. You have the option to just purchase the signed, exclusive edition of Kingdom of the Cursed or a single purchase of the regular, monthly box, which will include another yet to be announced book (there will be a signed bookplate) as well as 3-4 items inspired by both books. For both options, you may also add-on sprayed and stenciled edges to Kingdom of the Cursed (sprayed and stenciled edges will be done by Bookish Signs and More; the hyperlink includes a preview of the book’s design). Book-to-Screen Adaptations:

Red Queen TV Show: Peacock will be adapting another popular YA series: Victoria Aveyard’s Red Queen! Like the TV show announcement about Vampire Academy, not much has been shared. We do know that Elizabeth Banks is set to produce, direct, and appear in the Red Queen adaptation.
