Podcast Recommendations: Part 1

In an effort to find new bookish influencers to follow, we decided to start a series where we recommend influencers to you! The second part of this series will be dedicated to podcasters. These are all podcasts we have listened to over the past few months. Where applicable, we’ll link their Instagrams so you can check out their other social media accounts.

As we use Apple products, the Apple Podcasts link will be the one provided to you. All of these podcasts can be found on any site that you use to stream podcasts. Happy listening!

A Court of Tattoos and Rosé; Instagram
– ACOTAR Podcast focuses on Sarah J. Maas’s series. They have already read through A Court of Thorns and Roses and A Court of Mist and Fury. For ACOTAR, they are currently reading through A Court of Wings and Ruin. These episodes are uploaded weekly. They just started uploading biweekly episodes of a read through of Throne of Glass as well. Please beware that there is some adult content and adult language that goes along with the discussion of the books.

The Happy Writer Podcast; Instagram
– During the pandemic lockdown, Marissa Meyer created a podcast in which she talked with authors who had books that were releasing soon. Marissa and the authors discussed the joys and struggles with writing as well as their upcoming release. Some notable episodes are: Leigh Bardugo, Elise Bryant, Alexandra Bracken, Aiden Thomas, Tracy Deonn, V.E. Schwab, and Kit Frick.

No Write Way; Instagram
– V.E. Schwab (there is no Instagram for No Write Way, so we linked V.E.’s Instagram) started an Instagram series near the start of quarantine in which she talked with other authors about their writing process, hence the series’ name (i.e. there is no right way to write). Season 1 ended in August of 2020 and there hasn’t been an update whether or not there will be a season 2. All of the previous episodes are uploaded to Apple Podcasts (as well as other podcast sites, we believe).

Prince Kai Fan Pod; Instagram
– Bethanie Finger, a Marissa Meyer (and Prince Kai) fan, decided to start a podcast in which she would read through all of Marissa Meyer’s books and talk about them on a podcast. There are episodes for Cinder, Scarlet, Cress, and Bethanie just started Fairest recently (there are about 7 more episodes for Fairest). If you’re interested in keeping up with Prince Kai Fan Pod, here is the reading schedule for all of Marissa’s current books through the next couple of years.

Within the Pages; Instagram
– Cynthia and Lexa, who run Within the Pages, discuss books that they have read. Their first podcast that we listened to was the review for Aurora Rising (Rachael will definitely be listening to their review of An Ember in the Ashes and A Torch Against the Night so that she can prepare for A Reaper at the Gates!). They do an amazing job summarizing the books and talking about the main plot points.

In June, keep an eye out for our next post in this series! We’ll be focusing on bookstagrammers. As always, if you have any suggestions for podcasts that we should be listening to, leave them in the comments and we’ll give them a listen!

We’re a sister duo and a best friend from Virginia, USA who absolutely love books! We all met while Danielle and Skyler were in college. Danielle and Skyler are teachers and Rachael is aspiring to be a librarian. As well as having a bookstagram, we co-run a blog together where we review books, post unboxings of other subscription boxes, and offer reading resources for parents and educators.
