Bookish News You May Have Missed: April 4-April 10

Readalongs/Book Clubs

Red Tigress Readalong: Amélie Wen Zhao (@ameliewenzhao) is hosting a readalong for Red Tigress (sequel to Blood Heir) on her Instagram. The readalong runs from April 11 to April 17. If you are participating, make sure to post about it in your Instagram feed and/or Instagram stories. You can be entered in a giveaway to receive an art print based on the series.
– In Amélie’s stories, there is a highlight titled “RT Readalong,” which includes annotations from Amélie about Red Tigress.

A Universe of Wishes: A We Need Diverse Books Reading Series: For the month of April, Caprichos Books and Dhonielle Clayton will be hosting a reading series on Wednesdays at 2:00 p.m. EST. Special guests include Tochi Onyebuchi (April 14), Samira Ahmed (April 21), and Zoraida Cordava (April 28). The event is free, but you must register in advance to join. You can sign-up for the event here.

Book Festivals

YALLWest: YALLWest has revealed this year’s schedule! The festival will once again be online, with paneled events occurring on Friday, April 23 and Saturday, April 24. Check out the linked schedule for a full list of events and upcoming giveaways. Please note that the times are listed in PDT.
– Some giveaways started as early as April 12! Unfortunately, the giveaways seem to be restricted to US residents only.

Preorder Incentives and Signed Books

The Nature of Witches by Rachel Griffen: Rachel (@timesnewrachel) revealed her preorder incentive for The Nature of Witches on Instagram. Signed, personalized copies will also be available from Third Place Books.

We Can’t Keep Meeting Like This by Rachel Lynn Solomon: Rachel (@rlynn_solomon) revealed her preorder incentive for We Can’t Keep Meeting Like This on Instagram. The first 200 orders of We Can’t Keep Meeting Like This from Third Place Books will receive a signed bookplate and an art print.

Gods & Monsters by Shelby Mahurin: Fox & Wit, as well as The Bookish Box, announced exclusive editions of Shelby’s conclusion to the Serpent & Dove series. Each announcement is linked below.
The Bookish Box: An exclusive edition of Gods & Monsters is currently available for purchase on The Bookish Box’s website. The linked post includes a detailed breakdown of the customizations.
The Librarian Box: Gods & Monsters has been selected as the book pick for the August box. Further details will be revealed in the coming weeks. The box is currently available for single purchase on their website.

XOXO by Axie Oh: Fairyloot is offering an exclusive edition of Axie Oh’s upcoming novel, XOXO. The book will be available for purchase on Wednesday, April 14 at 1:00 p.m. BST.

Lore Olympus by Rachel Smythe: Fox & Wit announced a mini special edition box for Rachel’s upcoming graphic novel, Lore Olympus. The box will include an exclusive, hardcover edition of the book with sprayed edges as well as a Curio of Key inspired by Hades and Persephone. It is currently available for purchase on Fox & Wit’s website.

Mother’s Day Box: Unplugged Book Box announced a special holiday box for Mother’s Day. The box will include two books, two self-care items, and something that is drinkable. Trailers

The Woman in the Window by A. J. Finn: Netflix released the official trailer for their upcoming adaptation of A. J. Finn’s The Woman in the Window. The movie will premiere on May 14, 2021. You can watch the trailer by clicking on the provided link.
