Book News You May Have Missed: March 28-April 3

Today marks our first day of our new weekly series! When we started to draft this initial post, our original idea for this weekly series began to evolve. Instead of highlighting bookish content from influencers on Instagram, YouTube, and/or blogs, we are going to focus on bookish news you may have missed. Noteworthy book influencers will now be recognized in our monthly series for favorite podcasters, booktubers, and bookstagrammers. This weekly series, on the other hand, will just focus on book-related news that could include cover/title reveals, trailers, readalongs/book club picks, preorder incentives, interviews, and bookish shop releases. We have also updated our Content page to reflect this change.

Please note that many of the following book-related news may seem familiar as most have already been shared in our stories on Instagram.

Book Title Reveals

The Last Legacy by Adrienne Young: The cover and title of another book in the Fable world was revealed! This book will follow the Roth family (introduced in Namesake).

Bound By Firelight by Dana Swift: Dana Swift’s second novel (and sequel to Cast In Firelight) will be released on January 18, 2022. We’re still waiting for a cover reveal, but we’re sure it will be gorgeous.

The Righteous by Renée Ahdieh: We got a cover reveal for the third book in The Beautiful series! This book is going to follow Pippa and Arjun. Rachael hasn’t read The Damned yet, but she’s hoping to before The Righteous comes out!

Book Clubs and Readalongs

Book Gizmo’s May Book Club Pick: Legendborn by Tracy Deonn is Book Gizmo’s pick for her May Book Club. In celebration of May’s book pick, there is currently a Legendborn-inspired book sleeve that is available to preorder. The link to purchase can be found here. We are reps for Book Gizmo, so if you use code ALWAYS10, you’ll receive 10% off your order.

Dark Shores Readalong: @triciaghent on Instagram is hosting a readalong of the Dark Shores series in order to prepare for Gilded Serpent to release. There are prompts for pictures to post each week. All of the rules and relevant information can be found on the linked post.

Preorder Incentives

House of Hollow signed bookplates: Krystal Sutherland, author of House of Hollow (book releases April 6, 2021), is offering signed bookplates for every preorder and library request of her novel. There is a link in her bio to submit your preorder. This preorder incentive runs until April 10, 2021.

Interviews

Happy Writer Podcast: In case you weren’t aware, Marissa Meyer hosts a podcast that talks about writing. This past week, in anticipation of Rule of Wolves releasing, Marissa Meyer interviewed Leigh Bardugo. The podcast can be found anywhere you stream your podcasts.

Bookish Shop Releases

The Cruelest Mercy: Bookish Signs and More (@bookish_signs on IG) is offering a preorder of The Kinder Poison and The Cruelest Mercy. Both copies will feature sprayed edges (your choice of lavender or gold for The Kinder Poison and green or gold for The Cruelest Mercy) and be signed by Natalie Mae. A link to the Etsy shop can be found here. Don’t delay if you want the books; the copies are very limited!

One Last Stop Book Box: Unplugged Book Box is offering a book box for Casey McQuiston’s new release, One Last Stop. The box is in collaboration with them and will feature a signed book as well as eight items.

Trailers

Shadow and Bone trailer: Netflix released the official trailer for Shadow and Bone. The show will air on April 23, 2021. You can watch the trailer by clicking the link provided.

If there is any other bookish news that we forgot, please leave it in the comments! We’ll add the news to our list and credit you.

Edited to remove a few announcements. A few things came to light after we posted this blog post, so we wanted to remove those potentially triggering announcements.

We’re a sister duo and a best friend from Virginia, USA who absolutely love books! We all met while Danielle and Skyler were in college. Danielle and Skyler are teachers and Rachael is aspiring to be a librarian. As well as having a bookstagram, we co-run a blog together where we review books, post unboxings of other subscription boxes, and offer reading resources for parents and educators.
