Subscription Box Referral Codes

We apologize for the long wait between blog posts! It’s been a crazy week and a half for all of us. We’re hoping to be back to regular posting soon.

Have you ever wanted to try a subscription box, but don’t know which one to buy? Between Danielle and Rachael, we subscribe to 5 subscription boxes and 1 audiobook service. We’ll provide you with a brief summary of each box, including the box’s current theme and a link to the theme announcement, so that you can see what items will be in the box.

Owlcrate is a young adult subscription box that offers a newly released (within the last 45 days) young adult book and items based around a monthly theme. Often, the book is a special edition that is signed by the author. Owlcrate has done exclusive cover changes, embossing under the dust jacket, artwork on the reverse side of the dust jacket, and sprayed edges.

Each box is $29.99 plus shipping and applicable taxes (US shipping is $8.99). July’s theme is Date With Destiny. You can click here for more information about the July theme. July’s box is currently sold out, so they have a waitlist that you can join here. The July box will include the next mug in their Harry Potter mug series, which will be based on Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince. For their theme announcements, Owlcrate always provides a short summary of the selected book, the fandoms, and sometimes reveals items that will be in the box. As an added note, your subscription allows to skip if you don’t particularly like the theme for that month.

Rachael’s referral code:

Book of the Month
Book of the Month offers a selection of 5 books from different genres each month. You use a credit to select one of the books. If you don’t like any of the book choices, you have the option to skip for that month. If you choose to skip a month, your credit will roll over and you will not be charged for the next month. Using Danielle’s referral code will allow you to get your first book for $9.99. Each credit afterwards is $14.99 plus applicable taxes. Each box ships for free. Book of the Month also allows you the option to add on 2 additional books to your box. Once you’ve selected your book for that month, you can browse the books that are available as add-ons. The price of the add-on books will depend on the book. We’ve seen the price either be $9.99 or $14.99, so keep that in mind when selecting add-on books.

Danielle’s referral code:

LitJoy Crate
LitJoy Crate is similar to Owlcrate. They also curate young adult subscription boxes with a newly released young adult book (often with art under the dustjacket, tip-in artwork in the book, and/or signed) and items centered around a particular theme. LitJoy includes trading cards in their boxes each month and special items (puzzles and cup/saucer combos) on a quarterly basis. They currently have a Romantic Collection (special editions of Pride & Prejudice, Jane Eyre, and Wuthering Heights) available for purchase and will be starting a Magical Collection (quarterly curated boxes centered around Harry Potter) in October.

LitJoy offers three different crate options for each month: full crate (includes all items and book), book only (includes the book, trading cards, and author letter), and items-only (includes the items, author letter, and trading cards).

The theme for July is As You Wish, which is a box centered around items and fandoms that subscribers voted on. You can click here for more information about July’s theme. Currently, there is a waitlist for July and August. September preorders are open and LitJoy is accepting new subscribers for that month. The theme is Favorite Fictional Families. You can click here to see a preview about the theme. Please note that LitJoy hasn’t released a full reveal about September’s theme yet.

When using Danielle’s referral code, you receive $5 off a purchase of $40 or more. The full crate is $30.99 plus shipping and applicable taxes. The book only box is $19.99 plus shipping and applicable taxes. The items-only box is also $19.99 plus shipping and applicable taxes. Shipping for all three boxes depends on your location.
Danielle’s referral code: is an audiobook subscription that gives you 1 credit each month for $14.99. That credit can be used on any audiobook you’d like. A nice perk about is that part of the proceeds from each purchase goes to an independent bookstore of your choosing, based upon your selection when you signed up. They provide you with a list of independent bookstores that you can choose from. You can also change the independent bookstore that you support whenever you want. does have audiobooks that are on sale for pretty cheap each month. Click here for this month’s sale audiobooks. Members also get 30% off audiobooks. You can purchase as many audiobooks outside of your 1 monthly credit as you’d like.

When you use Rachael’s referral code, you will receive your first month free to try out Rachael’s referral code:

FairyLoot is a similar box subscription to LitJoy Crate and Owlcrate. FairyLoot offers a curated box that includes a newly released young adult book (often with sprayed edges, art under the dustjacket, exclusive covers, and/or signed) and items that based around a theme. The July theme is Resilient Royals. Check out this post for more information on the selected book and the items that will be included for that month. FairyLoot’s boxes are planned months ahead. They are estimating that there will not be many open subscriber spots until October. So if you want a box, you will have to wait until a spot opens up for you on the waitlist or subscribe in October.

Each box costs $33.90 plus shipping (US shipping is $7.99) and applicable taxes. For us, the total for FairyLoot comes out to be a couple dollars more than Owlcrate.

FairyLoot doesn’t offer a referral code, but we do recommend trying them out! Along with Owlcrate and LitJoy Crate, FairyLoot is one of the stronger subscription boxes.

Dreamy & Co
Dreamy & Co is a merch subscription box that includes a pin, a double-sided art print, a double-sided woodmark, a double-sided bookmark, and a few other items. The boxes center around a monthly theme that is related to a book in the young adult or adult genres. July’s theme is The Great Libraries of Austmeer, which is based on Sorcery of Thorns by Margaret Rogerson.

Each box is $20.00 plus shipping and applicable taxes. You can grab a one-time box or subscription here. If you buy a subscription, you receive a 5% discount on the boxes.

Dreamy & Co, like FairyLoot, doesn’t offer a referral code, but Danielle really likes their boxes.

Keep an eye out for our unboxings later on!
